The National Apartment Association's (NAA) advocacy mission includes providing our advocates with the most up-to-date information on the federal regulatory and legislative proposals impacting rental housing providers. NAA also tracks state and local activity of national significance, highlighting our affiliate network's advocacy priorities. Knowing what is being proposed and by who is the first step in ensuring the voice of the industry is heard by policymakers as they deliberate, and to positively impact those deliberations. The tracker below is your resource for monitoring activity at all levels of government of importance to the industry!

  • Use the tabs at the top of the dashboard to navigate to the State & Federal Policy and the Local Policy dashboard pages.
  • Hover over states in the map to get state or local-specific information.
  • Please click on the arrows in the table above to see the State & Federal Details.
  • Select the “Reset” button to reset the filters in the dashboard.
  • Select “Download Proposal Tracking” button below the dashboard to download the data to your desktop.
    • State & Federal Policy: Select the “Tracked Policy to Download” option after clicking the “Download Proposal Tracking Report” on the “State and Federal Policy” dashboard page to see all the information in the report.
    • Local Policy: Select the “Tracked Local Policy to Download” option after clicking the “Download Proposal Tracking Report” button on the “Local Policy” dashboard page.
  •  Refer to the “NAA Notes” column to find NAA content and resources related to legislation and regulation in the dashboard.
    • The “NAA Notes” column content can be accessed by downloading the “Tracked Policy to Download” report. To download this report, click the “Download Proposal Tracking Report” button.
  • The legislation and regulation detail resources in the “Link” column on the “State and Federal Policy” dashboard page can be accessed on the associated “Policy Details” page and by downloading the “Tracked Policy to Download” report.
  • City or county council meeting minutes and agendas can be found on the “Local Policy” tab by clicking the “link” option in the table.
