NAAPAC Financial Update
NAAPAC is continuing its summer fundraising surge. As of July 6, we have raised approximately $585,000 and disbursed $811,500 in 2026, bringing our total cycle disbursements to an impressive $1,733,000. NAAPAC stands behind federal legislators from both parties who champion policies that empower and strengthen the rental housing industry. Help us continue our strong momentum by supporting NAAPAC today!

Special thanks also to the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas and Charleston Apartment Association for their efforts to host Business Exchanges benefiting NAAPAC. Additionally, after a successful NAAPAC national issues briefing with the Massachusetts Apartment Association on June 4, we have several similar events confirmed and scheduled, both virtual and in-person. This month, we have two upcoming briefings/fundraising events scheduled: one with the El Paso Apartment Association on July 21 and another with the Houston Apartment Association on July 23. Webinar: Constituent Communication with Congress & Writing for Advocacy
Email is the primary way that constituents communicate with their Members of Congress. In fact, a typical House office receives an average of 6,000 emails each month.
The National Apartment Association (NAA) is hosting a webinar to educate affiliate staff and members about how Congress processes email communications. It also will provide tips and tricks for making sure the emails you send to your Members of Congress get the attention they deserve. This webinar is a FREE benefit exclusively for NAA’s advocates.

Get Your Best Advocates the Recognition They Deserve
You know who your best advocates are. Whatever advocacy task you ask of them, they show up.
The award is named for longtime apartment industry advocate, Malcolm N. Bennett, who said, “If you don't get involved in issues that affect you, then you have no right to complain." The Advocate of the Year Award recognizes that advocates like that are worth their weight in platinum. Recognize your platinum advocates this year. The nomination process for NAA’s Advocate of the Year Award is now open. Don’t delay – The deadline for submitting nominations has been extended until August 21, 2026.

External Affairs: HAP
The NAA Board recently approved the Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington (AOBA) and Colorado Apartment Association (CAA) Housing Affordability Program (HAP) applications.
AOBA’s $100,000 HAP grant will fight a rent control ballot measure that will appear on the November 2026 ballot. AOBA and its partner organizations will implement a multi-pronged strategy to oppose the Rent Control and Housing Eligibility Adjustment Act of 2026. The efforts will include legislative, legal, and campaign tactics, with HAP funding to be included in the latter.
CAA’s $100,000 grant will expand a proactive approach prior to the 2027 legislative session. Through Bringing Affordability Home, CAA aims to strengthen communication between policymakers, stakeholders, and constituents impacted by housing policy decisions while encouraging more practical, community-informed approaches to affordability and housing stability challenges. The HAP funds will be used to create a sustained public affairs and advocacy campaign, based on polling and research, that will begin well before, and continue as needed, in the 2027 state legislative session.
HAP is funded through NAA members’ dues. Applying for HAP brings members’ money home to your state, county, or municipality.
