Make Way for Multifamily

2 minute read

On Tuesday, April 7, apartment industry members nationwide gathered with friends and colleagues to celebrate the first annual National Multifamily Day.

With the support of supplier partners, affiliates across the country participated in the event and shared their experiences through social media. There were more than 600 Multifamily Day tweets that reached almost 28,000 Twitter accounts, with over 1.5 million impressions. NAA and its members truly spread the love—recognizing the growth and success of the apartment industry and expressing their career pride.

“Actually, each day is packed full of excitement,” said the team at The Polos at Hudson Corners in Greer, S.C. “It’s rewarding knowing that we helped someone find the place that they will proudly call their home. We also have several long-time residents, and it’s rewarding being able to experience with them different stages of their life. We are ultimately one big family!”

Added the team at The Jane Atlanta, “What makes our days enjoyable at The Jane is having the opportunity to help people find a new apartment and creating the experience to make it feel like a ‘home.’ Our resident functions allow us to build relationships with our residents to grow into a family.”

While some who celebrated reflected on their current positions, others recalled their start in the industry.

“I got started in this cool thing called leasing because three special people took a chance on hiring a young woman, fresh out of college with no experience,” said Ronni C. Williams of The Preserve at Southwind Apartments in Memphis. “They believed I would be a great fit! I love this job because I can give back what was given to me. I enjoy building relationships with the wonderful residents and my awesome coworkers that have lasted and will last for years.”

Added coworker and service technician Michael Swain, “I enjoy working with my hands and meeting new people. I really love new experiences and making things work that others believe can’t be fixed. I started repairing in my own personal life and found it to be budget friendly. I feel like I’m putting what I’ve learned to good use when it helps others.”

NAA Chairman of the Board Tom Beaton, CAPS, was proud of the turnout.

“NAA’s first National Multifamily Day was a huge success, and a testament to the enthusiasm and pride our members have for multifamily housing,” said Beaton, Senior Vice President, Management, for Boston-based The Dolben Company. “I look forward to celebrating again next year as even more apartment professionals gather to share their industry experiences.”

In the end, that’s what National Multifamily Day is all about: Celebrating—and helping—one another. We’re family, after all—multifamily.

Remember to mark your calendars: We’ll be celebrating the next National Multifamily Day on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
