The final leg of a two-month, cross-country, 3,000-mile bicycle ride by disabled veteran Steve Hughes to support Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) ended at WRH Realty Services’ Ciel Luxury Apartments in Southside Jacksonville last month. The new community partnered with Hughes, who started his ride in San Diego on Sept. 19 as a way to raise money for veterans through the Travis Mills Foundation, Air Force Enlisted Village and Project Hero.
While WRH awaited his arrival, its staff built 20 bikes for the local Boys and Girls Club, whose members met with Hughes at the finish line.
Hughes has been disabled for the last 13 years and has been gradually losing feeling in his left leg and can no longer feel his toes. He served 28 years in the Air Force.
