Assurant, a global provider of housing and lifestyle solutions that support, protect and connect major consumer purchases has partnered with Move For Hunger to assist the organization’s efforts to reduce food waste and fight hunger nationwide.
To date, the non-profit’s network of relocation professionals has collected more than 15 million pounds of food – from people who are moving – providing more than 12.5 million meals via food banks and pantries across the United States and Canada.
“Our work with multifamily housing property managers gives us a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities of moving in and out of rental properties,” said Steve Hein, Senior Vice President of Multifamily Housing at Assurant. “In partnership with Move For Hunger and our clients we can help ensure that food does not go to waste when someone moves, but rather is donated to local food banks and pantries nationwide.”
Hein added that the Assurant Foundation’s donation during NAA Apartmentalize 2019 in June helps to raise awareness of Move For Hunger’s important work throughout the rental housing community.
Move For Hunger is a non-profit organization that has created a sustainable way for the relocation industry to reduce food waste and fight hunger.
