External Affairs Update

The Housing Affordability Program (HAP) was showcased to the National Apartment Association's affiliate partners at the Rental Housing Advocacy and Legal Summit (RHALS) 2023 with a session highlighting the ease and flexibility of the program and an invitation to apply. The purpose of HAP is to provide advocacy support and resources to NAA affiliates and address policies that negatively impact the rental housing industry at the state and local level. Recent HAP awardee Robin Lee, Executive Director of the Nevada State Apartment Association, shared her experience in applying for and executing a successful advocacy campaign with the support of NAA and our vendor partners at Real Strategies.

Current outstanding HAP efforts include approved applications in Philadelphia, New Mexico, Washington State and New York State. Developing applications include Kentucky, Boston, Connecticut and Los Angeles.

Suppliers continue to play an outsized role in our fundraising success and account for approximately $398,000 of this total. NAAPAC would like to highlight the recent success of the Apartment Association of Greater Dallas, Apartment Association of Tarrant County, Charleston Apartment Association and the Apartment Association of New Mexico in generating a record turnout and amount raised at their respective Business Exchanges.
