The Pacific Housing Association (PHA), a volunteer-led non-profit 501(c)6, is the state’s first and only resource for both market-rate and affordable long-term rentals. PHA serves Hawaii’s rental housing providers, from small to large, to help protect and enhance the precious local rental industry. PHA, the Hawaii Affiliate for the National Apartment Association (NAA), is supported by the industry’s largest network of rental housing providers representing over 12 million rental housing units throughout the U.S.
“NAA has supported us every step of the way. Our partnership with NAA enables the Pacific Housing Association to educate, collaborate and elevate our local rental housing industry,” says PHA founder and President Jesse Miller, MBA, CPM, CAPS, Director of Real Estate-Hawaii with Greystar. “We provide legally compliant leases and addenda, operational performance management, member savings programs, industry research, education, credentialing and many other operational solutions that are critically needed in Hawaii.”
In addition to the expansive member resources offered through its NAA affiliation, PHA has also united with the Affordable Housing Management Association of Northern California & Hawaii (AHMA-NCH) to provide best-in-class training programs for individual professionals and companies that specialize in the development and operation of multifamily affordable housing. PHA members also continue to assist following the devasting Lahaina fire in 2023.
“Our members have actively pursued housing partnerships not only with FEMA but also with the State of Hawaii, the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and the Maui Humane Society,” says Miller.
“These efforts aim to help the 2,000 survivors still in hotels, nearly 10 months post-disaster, transition into long-term housing.”
