The NAA Government Affairs team is continuing to work at a breakneck pace by advocating for our bipartisan industry priorities and strengthening relationships with Republican and Democratic members of Congress. To date, NAAPAC has disbursed over $700,000 to pro-rental housing candidates, with NAA team members having attended approximately 280 fundraising events. Notably:
- NAA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Greg Brown attended a ModSquad event featuring multiple moderate in-cycle Democratic Senators and highlighted legislation important to the apartment industry.
- NAA Assistant Vice President of Political Affairs Jim Wilson attended the Dallas Road Show featuring special guest Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Tx.-5). Rep. Gooden spoke about his oversight efforts as a member of the Judiciary Committee to rein in the Federal Trade Commission’s potential restriction on screening methods.
- NAA Director of Federal Legislative Affairs Maria Spencer attended an event for Rep. Ami Bera (D-Calif.-6) where she thanked him for supporting the Build More Housing Near Transit Act as a cosponsor.
- NAA Director of Federal Legislative Affairs Jodie Anderson attended an event for Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), the Chair of the Banking, Housing & Urban Affairs Committee, where she discussed NAA’s legislative priorities.
- NAA Director of Federal Legislative Affairs Jason Lynn attended an event for Rep. Mike Flood (R-Neb.-1) where he thanked him for agreeing to cosponsor H.R. 802, Respect State Housing Laws Act, and for his leadership in support of other rental housing issues.
The NAA Government Affairs team has many additional upcoming events for NAAPAC champions later this year to help educate and thank lawmakers for supporting issues important to our industry.
