When considering the next apartment acquisition or new development, it might be best to steer clear of one-way roads. A recent study in Louisville, which converted one-way roads into two-way roads, showed a decline in accidents, crime and drug trafficking.

The center for Sustainable Urban Neighborhoods conducted the study 2011-2014.

By requiring less expense for public first-responders, in part due to fewer accidents, property values increased.

“By making these roads work more efficiently for cars, we made them more dangerous for people, we depressed the value of property around them and we created places that also became a magnet for crime,” writes Emily Badger, The Washington Post.
