Ayiesha Beverly, Esq., General Counsel for NAA, brings 12 years of legal expertise to her role, including strategic legal guidance and a running knowledge of trending legal issues, case law and challenges in rental housing. She oversees NAA’s Legal Affairs Team, NAA’s Click & Lease’s legal and compliance functions and ensures NAA’s adherence to all laws and regulations. Ayiesha is a multifamily conference speaker and is licensed to practice in Virginia and Maryland. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and Government from North Carolina State University and a J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

Dave Marcinkowski

Partner, Madera Residential

Dave is a Partner at Madera Residential with a strong background in multifamily industry operations. His multifamily industry career began in 1992 (Edward Rose & Sons), giving him more than 30 years of experience and relationships to draw upon. With his partners, their visionary leadership has grown Madera Residential from one property in Baytown, TX to owning and managing roughly 80 properties (19,000 units) across the state. 

In 2021 alone, Madera Residential acquired nearly $1 billion worth of assets across Texas. In true entrepreneurial spirit, Dave and Madera Residential leadership have branched out into other industries and ventures, like property technology (Quext), financial technology (Viva First), title insurance (Select Title), and fee-managed properties (Rockwood).

Ian Mattingly

President and CEO, Luma Residential

Ian Mattingly is the president/CEO of LUMA Residential, a private multifamily investment and property management firm based in Dallas. He also serves on the board for Bob.ai, an AI-enabled ERP for assisted renters and the housing providers and non-profits who serve them. Ian is a partner/advisor with Alloy Investments, an early-stage prop-tech focused VC firm, and is frequently tapped to advise early and seed-stage prop-tech startups. He was named one of 2021’s Best Bosses by Globe Street, a national real estate publication. Ian frequently speaks and writes about technology and leadership in the real estate industry across the country.

Charlie Temkin

AI Product Manager, MRI Software

Charlie Temkin is the AI Product Manager at MRI Software, overseeing AI-driven products like Contract Intelligence and Forms Intelligence, and leading cross-functional initiatives leveraging generative AI for enhanced real estate insights. Since joining MRI in 2021, Charlie has led several new launches, including MRI’s first LLM-based feature, Contract Assistant.

Before MRI, Charlie held key roles in product management, focusing on leveraging AI and analytics to drive product strategy and innovation across the tech industry.

Charlie holds a B.A. in Economics from The George Washington University.

Chris Burns, CPM® 

Senior Vice President, Willow Bridge Property Company

Chris Burns is Senior Vice President with Willow Bridge Property Company, which he joined over 15 years ago. He is responsible for all Southeast apartment management operations, totaling in excess of 23,000 units, as well as new business development throughout the region.

Mr. Burns has over 40 years of experience in all aspects of multi-family management. Mr. Burns holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida Atlantic University and the professional designations of Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) Certified Apartment Property Supervisor (CAPS) and Certified Property Manager CPM® through the National Apartment Association and the Institute of Real Estate Management.  

Mr. Burns is a Past Chairman of the Florida, Georgia and Atlanta Apartment Associations and a 2009 inductee into the Florida Apartment Association Hall of Fame. Mr. Burns currently serves as a Member of the Executive Committee of the National Apartment Association. He is a member of the Institute of Real Estate Management, the Atlanta Board of Realtors and is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

Brian Chase

Principal, Landmark Property Services, Inc.

Brian is one of three managing partners who founded Landmark Property Services, Inc. in 2002.  Brian is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Property Management. Brian has held positions as President and member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Apartment Management Association (VAMA), and President and Vice President of the Central Virginia Apartment Association (CVAA).  He has served as the Regional Vice President and board member for NAA, NAA Legislative Chairman, NAAPAC Chairman, NAA IRO Chairman, 

Co-Chair of Apartmentalize and is currently the NAA Secretary.   

Landmark is a full-service property management company managing several thousand multi-family apartment units over multiple communities.  They are also active in development and purchasing multi-family assets. Brian has been tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the communities, assisted in development of historic rehab assets into apartment buildings, and played a vital role in the acquisition of several muti-family assets.

Jeannette Cox is Executive Vice President of Oddo Development Company overseeing strategy, development and operations for residential, multi-family and commercial real estate. Ms. Cox has over 15 years of successful experience in commercial real estate and property management with particular strengths in owner-manager communications, asset management, company strategy and multi-family design and functionality.Ms. Cox is actively involved in the National Apartment Association for over 10 years and serves on several city planning and task force boards.Ms. Cox earned a bachelor degree in Business Administration, holds her CAPS certification and the recipient of several awards, including Management Executive of the Year and recognized as Ingrams Women of Influence in 2018.

Assistant Vice President, Housing Policy & Regulatory Affairs, National Apartment Association

Nicole Upano serves as AVP of Housing Policy & Regulatory Affairs at the National Apartment Association (NAA). In this role, Nicole works with NAA’s volunteer leaders to set the association’s federal priorities and leads its federal regulatory advocacy program. Nicole serves as the association’s lead housing policy expert and manages a team of subject matter experts that support the industry’s advocacy with policy research, analysis and insights at all levels of government. Nicole calls Indiana home. She attended Indiana University, earning a B.A. in Political Science and Studio Art with a minor in Art History.

Leah Cuffy

Director, Advocacy Research| National Apartment Association

Leah Cuffy serves as the Director of Advocacy Research at the National Apartment Association. In this role, she oversees the development and execution of research projects that further NAA's advocacy efforts and influence decision-making at local, state and federal levels. Leah has a passion for data-driven decision-making and a dedication to advancing the interests of the rental housing industry. She is skilled in conducting comprehensive research, analyzing industry trends and evaluating the economic impacts of various public policies. Her work has been instrumental in shaping NAA's advocacy initiatives, ensuring that the association's stakeholders have a strong voice in legislative and regulatory matters.

She also has previous experience in commercial real estate research and analytics with Costar Group. Leah began her career in the multifamily sector through various roles in property management at both Equity Residential and UDR.

Leah holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Washington Adventist University.

Brian Gordon

Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, Virginia Apartment and Office Building Association of Metropolitan Washington

Brian Gordon is the Virginia Vice President of Government Affairs for AOBA. In this role he serves as the organization's lobbyist before the Virginia General Assembly, executive agencies and local governments in Northern Virginia.

Prior to joining the Association, Brian served as Manager of State Issues for Stateside Associates, Inc., a 50-state government affairs firm based in Arlington. Mr. Gordon has extensive legislative and political experience operating at all levels of government and served in varying capacities in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Mr. Gordon served as the Prince William County Director for Virginia Congressman Thomas M. Davis, III, acting as the Congressman's liaison to state and local elected officials in Virginia. Before his term of service in the federal government, Mr. Gordon was employed as a lobbyist for the Fairfax County (Virginia) Chamber of Commerce. In this position, he represented the organization's corporate membership before the Virginia General Assembly as well as various local and regional bodies. Mr. Gordon has also served with the Fairfax County, Virginia Board of Supervisors and on numerous local, state, and federal issue campaigns.

Mr. Gordon received his Masters Degree in Public Administration from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and his Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Public Administration from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Rachel Siegel covers the economics of housing and real estate for The Washington Post. She previously spent four years covering the Federal Reserve, chronicling the sharpest rise in interest rates and inflation in a generation, and the direct effects for America's housing market. She also wrote extensively on rent and eviction-related issues during the pandemic, including the bumpy rollout of emergency rental assistance. Her first job at The Post was covering the Maryland suburbs. She lives in Washington with her large, floppy dog, Clouseau.
