Politics a Pain Point for Neighbors

Nearly 20% of residents get into political disagreements.

Election Day is right around the corner, and Redfin is diving into political disagreements between neighbors. According to a new survey from the company, 18.7% of people have had a political disagreement with a neighbor. The survey also went into detail about getting into disagreements based on racial issues.

The questions were divided into different demographics including homeowners, renters, women, men and Trump versus Harris voters.

Just north of 16% of renters reported getting in a disagreement with a neighbor over politics. Meanwhile, 20.5% of homeowners reported a political disagreement. Overall, Trump voters reported higher instances of political disagreements with neighbors (23.1% vs. 19.5%).

The large generational gap was witnessed as the younger respondents reported a higher likelihood of political disagreements with neighbors. Gen Z was at 26.4%, and Millennials were at 23.5%. Meanwhile, Gen X and Baby Boomers were around 14% reporting a political disagreement.
