On August 13, 2024, the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA) kicked off a series of industry roundtables on the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.

Charlotte is the first stop on a seven-city roadshow where industry leaders will have opportunities to speak directly with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) for Public and Indian Housing Richard Monocchio. The roundtables focus around improving the housing provider experience with the HCV program and increasing quality housing options for HCV recipients and their families.

Lindsay Reusser, GCAA’s Director of Government Affairs said, “Our members were impressed with PDAS Monocchio’s understanding about the triumphs and downfalls of Section 8.”

The National Apartment Association (NAA) is proudly partnering with its affiliate network and HUD to create opportunities for stakeholders to discuss this important work. Much like NAA’s strong support for the federal Choice in Affordable Housing Act, NAA continues to advocate for meaningful improvements to the HCV program and for reducing programmatic barriers that interfere with the success of the program.
