Roses are red, violets are blue, we love the residential property management (RPM) industry, and so do you!

February is RPM Careers Month, and we hope you have been busy spreading the love about our booming industry and RPMcareers.org—the National Apartment Association Education Institute’s (NAAEI) new website is designed to build a pipeline of fresh talent for our teams. If you need some inspiration to get involved, read on!

While February is officially RPM Careers Month, there is a need to promote the industry all year long. Job opportunities in the RPM industry are growing exponentially.

Research shows that about 80 percent of new hires in RPM are being recruited from other companies in the industry—an indication that the pool of qualified individuals to fill entry-level positions isn’t large enough to meet the demand.

RPMcareers.org was built to attract the right candidates to our exciting career choices.

RPM Careers Month is our opportunity to raise awareness of our industry and our happy employees, and to encourage hiring personnel to explore quality candidates with various experiences—such as those changing careers, recent college graduates and the military community.

How can you help?

Step 1: Take a selfie. Not just any selfie, but an #RPMcareers social media selfie! NAAEI designed an #RPMcareers card that you can download at rpm.naahq.org/rpm-card. Print it out and share why you love working in RPM. Take a pic and post on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn using #RPMcareers. Many are already showing the #RPMcareers love—join in and see what makes talented RPM professionals happy in their careers.

Step 2: Promote RPMcareers.org to encourage talented people to learn about our industry. Share RPMcareers.org on social media, and link to it on your company or community website. Spreading the word will help make RPMcareers.org a success and showcase the growth of our industry!

Step 3: We need your company’s job opportunities to make RPMcareers.org a success! Encourage your recruitment colleagues to post job opportunities on RPMcareers.org. The involvement of HR and recruitment professionals is critical.

Step 4: Know a colleague who is a rising star and a poster child for why RPM is a great career? Nominate him or her as an RPM Careers Ambassador! On RPMcareers.org, RPM Career Ambassadors—spanning all industry career tracks, backgrounds and experiences—play a vital role in fortifying our industry with talent.

Site visitors and job seekers can connect with RPM Career ambassadors by email or LinkedIn to ask questions and discover the opportunities in RPM. To nominate an ambassador, or to learn more about the program, please email [email protected].

Keep #RPMcareers Month going! We look forward to seeing even more RPM love nationwide. Let’s work together to build our industry with today’s talented candidates and make RPMcareers.org a success.
