Vegas Victory

If Tonyh Infussi were betting  on the 2015 Maintenance Mania® National Championship, he would have put his chips on someone else. Fortunately, Las Vegas odds don't always mean much.

The first-time Maintenance Mania® National Championship participant—and winner—sat down with units Magazine to discuss his unexpected win.

units: What does the championship mean to you?

Infussi: The championship means a lot to me. It's nice to break away and have fun with the tasks that we do on a day-to-day basis and meet people from all over the United States.

units: When did you know you had clinched the victory? Was it a surprise?

Infussi: Honestly, I did not think I had the victory. I was up on stage with a couple of the other competitors, congratulating someone else. Then they announced my name, taking me totally by surprise.

units: Did you have any pre-championship rituals?

Infussi: Yes—getting zoned in by listening to good music, relaxing myself and reminding myself that I came to the Championship to have fun.

units: How did you celebrate your big win?

Infussi: I celebrated with family and friends at a high-rise steak house in Old Vegas, popping bottles of champagne.

units: Who were your biggest supporters throughout the competition?

Infussi: My biggest supporters were my wife and my company, Continental Realty. Without them none of this would have been possible.

units: What are your favorite memories from this year's competition?

Infussi: My favorite memories from this year were making new friends, seeing Las Vegas for the first time, and of course being named the 2015 Maintenance Mania® National Champion.

units: What was everyone's reaction to your win?

Infussi: My family and company were more or less speechless. Like I said, we did not see this coming. But nonetheless, they were very excited, happy and proud of me.

units: Where will you put your trophy?

Infussi: I am planning on building a new shelf in my home to display all my previous Maintenance Mania® accomplishments, including the new championship trophy.

units: Is the pressure on for next year?

Infussi: Without a doubt. There is absolutely pressure for next year, but I am definitely going to be gunning to win that No. 1 spot two years in a row.
