Mental Health Awareness Week: We Welcome Your Feedback: Fostering Safety at Work
While “thinking outside the box” is considered a gift in most workplaces, there are instances where it can be used against you or your colleagues to humiliate or punish you for voicing a new idea, questioning the higher-ups or making a mistake. This unhealthy work environment is traumatic and can lead to having an office with an unspoken revolving door policy for talented workers, a stagnation to innovative ideas and a general fear of retribution for the tiniest errors. Workplaces like this exist everywhere, often with leadership clueless to the company culture they’ve cultivated. Let’s welcome back Jennifer Cox, MA, Manager of the National Trainer (NT) Network and Supervisor of the Mental Health First Aide NT, as we discuss the impact of psychological safety, taking interpersonal risks without punishment, and cognitive diversity, the differences in the way people think, on the workplace, and strategies to foster safety at all levels of an organization. Let’s unleash the true potential of your workplace.
