The two organizations are working together to fight hunger and combat the environmental impacts of food waste.

Multifamily real estate investment management company Cortland and national non-profit Move For Hunger are partnering to fight hunger by helping food banks and stopping food waste. This partnership is the second-largest for Move For Hunger, and Cortland’s roughly 200 communities will redirect food heading to landfills to those in need, benefiting the environment as well.

“This portfolio-spanning partnership with a like-minded organization like Move For Hunger will help us to continue to support our communities and drive our organization’s sustainability mission,” said Jonathan Tucker, Executive Vice President of Operations & Facilities with Cortland, in a release. “Move For Hunger has helped deter millions of pounds of food from ending up in landfills while also preventing more than four tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. In addition, the organization has helped provide more than 18 million meals to those in need.”

Cortland staff and residents will be able to collect food to donate without leaving their communities, which will provide food collection bags that can be filled and dropped off onsite. Move For Hunger will pick up and deliver the food to local food banks.
