About the NAAEI Credentialing Exams

Before You Test: Important Things to Note

The Candidate Handbook includes detailed instructions on how the exams run and important information regarding the rules and regulations of testing administration.

  • Eligibility codes unlock the exams. Once you receive your code from your local apartment association, please be sure to keep your Eligibility Code with you when you are ready to schedule the exam. Eligibility Codes are unique to each student and are the key to unlocking your access to the scheduling site
    • Please note: Your NAA User ID is not your eligibility code; you must obtain the code from your local association. Online credential students obtain their codes from NAA.

  • All credential exams are taken in a proctored environment, either on your own computer with a remote proctor or at an affiliate testing site or Meazure Learning (formerly Scantron) testing center with an in-person proctor.

    • To schedule your exam at an affiliate testing location, use these detailed instructions.

    • To schedule your credential exam at a Meazure Learning (formerly Scantron) testing center location, use these detailed instructions.

    • To schedule your exam via Live Remote Proctoring (LRP), please read this information about a recent change to NAA's LRP proctoring vendor before scheduling your exam via the scheduling site.

  • To begin your remotely proctored exam, use the information provided in your Exam Confirmation email from Meazure Learning

  • Fees to retake a failed exam are as follows:

    • CAM and CAPS -- $100
    • CALP, CAS, IROP -- $60
    • CAMT -- $55
    • NALP -- $50
    • Micro-credentials -- $50

Exam Content: What to Expect

Each credential exam is based on a specific blueprint outlining the knowledge and skills required to successfully fulfill the responsibilities of the position. The blueprint identifies major areas of knowledge (domains) and the skills that fall under each domain. It also indicates the number of questions from each domain that are on the exam.

Meazure Learning (formerly Scantron) Platform Demo

This Meazure Learning platform demo can serve as a valuable tool for exam preparation. Please remember—this test is not a learning tool! Learning practice tests are located below and on the Candidate Resources page. This demo is intended only to familiarize you with the Scantron testing environment. Use this Meazure Learning demo to practice advancing through test questions, marketing them for further review, returning to the marked questions and submitting your exam when you are satisfied with your answers.

The questions on this practice test are compiled from various programs that NAAEI offers. Try to not pay attention to the question content. Exception: For CAPS applicants a set of questions with an attachment is included so you can practice using the attachment when answering the test questions.

Practice Tests

Practice tests are best used to familiarize yourself with the types and format of questions you will see on the official exam. While you will not encounter these exact questions on the exam, the course content is reflected in the questions. The answers to the practice tests can be found on the Candidate Resources page.

The Candidate Handbook can be downloaded for free.

There are Skill Checks from each curriculum available as a study guide for students. This material is free of charge and downloadable from the Candidate Resources page but you must be logged in and registered as a candidate with NAA in order to view this page. The credential practice tests contain real test questions that may be used as guides to prepare for the exam. The Meazure Learning (formerly Scantron) Practice Demo is offered to familiarize candidates with the testing environment only.

You will get your results immediately after taking the exam.

If you are testing at an in-person exam site, you will receive a printed copy of your results after your exam.

If you are testing via Live Remote Proctoring (LRP), you will see your exam results on the screen at the end of the exam but will not be able to print/save your results. After testing, you will receive an email from Meazure Learning that provides information on how to login to Meazure Learning's online score reporting portal and access your score report for printing/viewing. If you need a score report from before October 16, or if you tested after October 16 and did not receive an email with login information for the score reporting portal, please contact Meazure Learning's Candidate Support team at [email protected] for assistance. (Due to the method ProctorU’s software uses to lock down your system during testing, you will see your exam results on the screen at the end of the exam but will not be able to print/save your results.).

If you pass your exam, you will also receive digital badge information within approximately one week of passing your exam.

It is important to have valid and up-to-date information so NAAEI can contact you. Update your information.

Your local association will receive your score through a report that is sent weekly.

Candidates may sit for the test as many times as they want until they pass the exam. However, there is a retake fee for each attempt. Please contact your training provider for an exam retake code. If you took the courses online, contact [email protected] to receive your retake code.

Fees to retake a failed exam are as follows:

  • CAM and CAPS -- $100
